Ajintha Leni, also known as Ajanta Caves, is a captivating archaeological site located in the state of Maharashtra, India. Those who dug these caves did not inscribe their names on them. One thing they have ascertained is that it took 400-500 years of unceasing labour by the sculptors to excavate these caves.

Ajantha Caves are located on the top of a hill at a distance of six kilometres from Ajantha village, so foreign scholars have mentioned them as Ajantha Caves in their articles. But the locals refer to it as Fardapur Caves because the caves are excavated in the seventh range of the Sahyadri mountain range, about 108 km north and about five km south of Fardapur village in Sambhajinagar district.
The tenth cave of this group of caves is the oldest. All Leni here are famous for their pottery and sculpture. Besides, the pictures drawn there are amazing, even after so many years, the colours in some of the pictures are still fresh. Ajanta painters mainly used white, black, yellow, green, red and blue colours in their paintings. These colours should be made from natural materials.
