Ratan Naval Tata is an Indian industrialist is philanthropist he was also chairman of Tata Group from 1990 to 2012 and again, as interim from October 2016 February to 2017 and continue to head its Charitable Trusts. He is the recipient of two of the highest civilian award of India, the Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000). He is well known for his business ethics and philanthropy.
After completing his graduation, he returned to India and joined the Telco company manufacturing automobiles. Soon after, he was transferred to one of Tata's flagship companies, Tisco, which was a leader in iron and steel manufacturing. He started his career in 1962 with the Tata Group. Initially, he worked in the primary-level division of Tata Steel. He worked at a Tesco plant for six years where he learned the company's manufacturing technology strategy and fundamental management aspects of the Tata Group.
Under Ratan Tata's leadership, the company's disorganization was generally smoothed out. It included everything from salt to software companies and took them to the global level. Under his leadership, Tata Group's revenue increased. When they were present, the entire group's merchandise was sold in excess. But after he left the group, most of the goods were sold under the Tata brand name. He took bold decisions to acquire Tata Tea to Tetley, Tata Motors to Jaguar, Land Rover and Tata Steel to Corus companies. The business of all these Tata companies was largely brought global from the India Centric Group, earning 65% of their revenue in the process and spreading the business to around 100 countries. Also, Tatanano decided to come into reality.
Ratan Tata's chairmanship was accepted by many business conglomerates and the Tata Group. His trust proved worthwhile as new ideas and innovative initiatives and customer value were important to take the Tata Group to a higher level.
